Agra Taj Mahal History
Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. More than twenty thousand artisans and workers were labored during the construction of Taj Mahal, and after 22 years it's construction was completed in 1653 AD. Many skilled craftsmen, stone carvers and calligraphers were called across the country as well as other places like Persia and Turkey. During the construction of this magnificent building total 32 crore rupees were spent.

The architecture of Taj Mahal is based on Islamic architecture. It is a rich fusion of Mughal, Persian and Central Asian styles of architecture. The interior of Taj Mahal is superbly adorned with delicate carvings, jaalidar arches, beautiful tiles and impressive stone works, that mesmerize everyone.
